New Sanctuary built in 2007
History of Our Church

Oak Grove Assembly of God has been established for over 60 years now in full gospel ministry to Monticello and the surrounding area.  The church originated in the early 40's with a small group of believers that began meeting in individual's homes, brush arbors and in the shade of a grove of large oak trees near the Mt. Tabor community east of Monticello, Arkansas.

On October 26, 1947, application was made to the General Council of the Assemblies of God for recognition as an Assemblies of God church.  Recognition was granted on October 31, 1947 by the General Council.  Prior to the submission of the application for affiliation, the church name was changed to Oak Grove Assembly of God, primarily because the church members met in the shade of a grove of oak trees on a farm.

In 1958, the church purchased property at its current location at the corner of Oakland St. and Winchester Rd.  In April 2006, a ground breaking ceremony was held for the current sanctuary, Christian Education wing and new offices.  Construction began on the new facilities in March of 2007 and the first Sunday of services was held December 16, 2007 with a celebration of the church's 60th Year Anniversary and Dedication of the new church.

It has been a journey of faith for the congregation of Oak Grove Assembly of God.  God has blessed our fellowship with miracle after miracle over these many years setting the stage for a bright and glorious future.  We will continue to go into all the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature, awaiting and anticipating the soon return of our Lord.
